The FDA has approved the approval of an anti-impotence drug called Sildenafil® and it is only legal to buy it in the United Kingdom, the agency said.
The company has already rejected the drug in Spain.
The company is currently awaiting approval from the European Commission.
If the FDA approves it, it will make the drug available through pharmacies and allow the drug to be sold without the need for a prescription.
Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor that helps reduce blood pressure and is approved by the FDA for use in the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men, and pulmonary arterial hypertension in women.
The company has not yet received final approval from the European Medicines Agency for its use in the treatment of erectile dysfunction, but has said it could begin selling the drug in the U. K. in the next three months.
The company also will sell Sildenafil in the United States to help men with erectile dysfunction and have it sold in the U. for up to a year.
The drug is approved by the FDA for use in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
The FDA also approved the drug for use in treating erectile dysfunction in men and pulmonary arterial hypertension in women. The drug is available by prescription only, and should only be sold through licensed pharmacies.
It is also not currently approved for use in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension, or other hypertension that is not relieved by blood pressure treatment.
Sildenafil was first developed as a drug for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension in men in the late 1980s, and is now sold in Europe and the U. as Revatio® in the U.
Sildenafil is the same active ingredient as Viagra®, and is the same drug in both formulations.
Originally developed by Pfizer Inc., the company acquired the patent for the original drug Sildenafil in 1998, and has since sold that drug to numerous pharmaceutical companies.
In 2010, the drug was approved for use in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension and in the treatment of erectile dysfunction in women.
